Annual
Fund
The Annual Fund supports the daily experience of every Friends School student. Gifts from parents, alumni, faculty and staff, alumni families, grandparents, and friends help make this possible. As with most independent schools, tuition alone does not cover the full cost of a Friends School education. We rely on Annual Fund contributions to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of running the school each year.
We strive to keep tuition as accessible as possible so that more families can benefit from a Friends School education. Raising tuition would limit access for many, yet we remain committed to maintaining the high quality of our academic programs. Charitable contributions make it possible to balance both priorities—ensuring excellence while keeping our school inclusive and affordable.
Gifts to the Annual Fund support the following opportunities
Financial aid, which promotes access and affordability
Daily cost of teaching and learning - costs which, as at independent schools across the country- exceed the amount covered by tuition
Faculty professional development, which helps our exceptional teachers continue to bring fresh skills and knowledge to the classroom
Improvements to the physical campus

Capital Campaign Planning
At Friends School, we recognize the increasing demands and expectations of modern society, and are committed to meeting the needs of our students in order to prepare them for the challenges ahead. In the last several years, Friends School has crafted our long- range vision and master plan. The school is in the leadership phase of capital campaign planning for the funding objectives identified through strategic planning. Gifts for the Annual Fund, Student Scholarship Program, and the Endowment are our current priorities.
Alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who are interested in learning more about how they can have an impact on achieving the school’s strategic goals should contact the Advancement Office.

Fund-A-Scholar
Independent Schools are faced with an ongoing challenge of filling the gap between the actual cost of educating a student and the cost of tuition. At FSL, tuition covers only 75% of the cost to educate a child-- the remaining 25% must be raised through donations or covered by the school’s operating budget. Friends School has developed an initiative aimed at closing this critical gap through an online giving campaign and a series of specialized programs and events.
For more information on this initiative or for a list of events to support Fund-A- Scholar please contact the Advancement Office.
Endowment
Endowments are the lifeblood of a non-profit organization, ensuring fiscal sustainability of the program in perpetuity. Gifts of all kinds may be designated as a long-term investment through an endowment. Endowed gifts create a permanent legacy for scholarships, helping generations of students attend FSL, or providing an endowed faculty position to attract the best educators. Endowed programs assure the availability of resources for the most current and effective programs to promote academic success. Endowments represent the legacy of benevolent donors who invest for long-term growth, sustaining in a personal way their values and ideals about the importance of education.
If you have an idea for a gift that will live for generations to come, please contact the Advancement Office.
